This Smithville Mansion Wedding in New Jersey was incredibly timeless and hella fun. In case you didn’t know, I take on a few international weddings each year, so when Sam reached out saying wanted the full film experience (digital, 35mm film, and super 8) I was seriously excited. She had found me through instagram, and as soon as we hopped on our first facetime date I knew that this was going to be an incredible experience.
She told me she wanted a creative element, a photojournalistic perspective, that she wanted to feel the moments that naturally occurred instead of remembering how they had “staged” that photo… suffice to say that I was VERY stoked to document this wedding.
We started the day with the ladies doing their final touches in one of the mansion’s guest houses. We gave this part of the day extra time so that Sam would have the time to read the letter Jake had written her, to put her dress on with her mum, and to take some editorial styled portraits of her. The ceremony had an incredible flower installation that was the perfect backdrop where Sam’s dad officiated the marriage. The rest of the day was spent mingling in the gardens and dancing in the reception tent.
This Smithville Mansion wedding in New Jersey was an incredible experience to have been invited to participate in. The red brick of the historic place, the elegant gardens, the sandstone walls of the guest house, this was something I will not soon forget. Cheers to you Sam and Jake.
